Rocky

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 2 years

His story Rocky's story begins in violence. Bounced between several families and "educated" harshly, he ended up biting: he was then kept permanently muzzled in the house, and his owner wanted to have him euthanized. His bite assessment, carried out while he was in a state of intense stress and knew of humans only coercion and brutality, rated him 3/4. Since Rocky has been with us, he has learned to trust, learned that a human can be good and give him wonderful moments. And he has revealed a completely different character: gentle and friendly, obedient, sociable with his fellow dogs, he has now become serene. He even seems to have grown indifferent to cats. He joins hikes with joy and has a wild amount of fun! He goes canicross-mountain biking with Thierry. But a bit of seriousness all the same: he was tested for the gendarmerie… which turned him down, however, as too cuddly, too focused on people and not enough on play. "A perfect family dog," we were told! That is why we can now offer Rocky for adoption. He is no longer the mistrustful little pressure cooker he was when he arrived. Novice owners and young children should be avoided, however.

FR·Show original

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SPA Grillon in France.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Grillon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Grillon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Grillon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
