ROKSI

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

ROKSI 41453 (POA) – SENIOR – Female, neutered, born approx. 2018, shoulder height approx. 35 cm, at the shelter since 2025 On this particular day, a kind, elderly lady from the shelter is there, who always volunteers to walk the dogs. She mainly walks the fearful dogs who still need to get used to the leash and need socialization. Roksi is one of them. The small female was apparently caught in a forest at some point along with her puppies (who were already young dogs by then). The caretakers suspect she had been abandoned there, because although Roksi is fearful, she is not a wild dog. By now they have managed to get the female used to walking on a leash, and she allows even strangers like us to touch her, although it is clear that she finds it uncomfortable. Roksi lives together with males and females in the kennel without any problems. When she arrived, Roksi had an old fracture of the left hind leg. She cannot use the leg and essentially hops around on three legs. (A 10/2026)

About ROKSI

What life with ROKSI looks like

ROKSI is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting ROKSI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ROKSI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ROKSI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ROKSI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is ROKSI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ROKSI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know ROKSI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
