Roma

Mixed Breed · Female

Look at what a picture it is, our Roma! This beautiful lady is a unique cross between a Chihuahua and a Pomeranian. She was the only puppy raised by hand, and you can tell everything: she's crazy about people and really a companion animal pur sang. Roma is used to the luxurious life in a family where she was deliciously pampered. Due to private circumstances, she currently stays with one of our foster families, and there she does fantastic. Roma is a real lady with character; she knows very well what she wants (and secretly also what she doesn't want!). She is energetic, smart and really needs some challenge. She loves walking and then walks nicely on the leash. Because she is so people-oriented, we are looking for an "forever" house where she can really participate as a full member of the family. In fact, she is looking for someone who wants to treat her like a queen and spoil her. In practice this means that we are looking for a very loving person (or couple) who misses a loyal and lively dog companion in life. Important match points: Children: Because of her clear own will and her history, a family with young children is not a good match for Roma. Health: Roma has recently been completely prepared for her new start; she has been sterilized and fully vaccinated. Are you that active dog lover who can give this little princess the love, challenge and pampering she deserves? Then Roma would very much like to hear from you! About Roma

What life with Roma looks like

Roma is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Huis voor Dieren in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Huis voor Dieren handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Huis voor Dieren will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Huis voor Dieren early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
