Adopt Rosa

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Rosa Born: 20.12.2024, female dog, microchipped, vaccinated, American Bully (Amstaff Mix) X OEB. Our Rosa weighs about 17 kg and stands around 47 cm at the shoulder. She is a sporty, compact mix of American Bully and Old English Bulldog (OEB). Despite her young age, she already has a lot of character – and the desire to bond with her people. At home, Rosa is house-trained, clingy, and very people-oriented. She loves physical contact, seeks the closeness of her trusted people, and wants to please. She also handles being alone well after an adjustment period – up to six hours is possible. Rosa knows basic commands, stays in her place, and generally orients herself well to her people. Living with children works – ideally, they should be a bit older and steady. Outdoors, it's a different story: Rosa is very reactive, especially to movement. She has a strong prey drive and shows clear reactions to other dogs, cats, and wildlife even from a distance. Walks are done with a muzzle – for the safety of all involved. She currently lives with a neutered male dog, but this cohabitation is becoming increasingly problematic: Rosa is dominant towards him, provokes him, corners him, and sometimes vents her frustration on him. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced dog home for Rosa – without other animals, but with clear structures, patience, and understanding of her needs. Competent dog training classes are a must, as Rosa is smart, attentive, and eager to learn. She needs people who take her seriously, provide her with security, and help her find her place in the world. Whoever accompanies Rosa with heart, calm, and consistency will have a loyal, cuddly companion by their side – with great potential and the wish to finally feel at home. Dog training classes are mandatory. We are looking for a breed-experienced family, preferably with older children, who are not afraid of training and responsibility and enjoy working with her. Since we often receive inquiries, we would like to point out that our dogs are in foster homes across the country, and it may happen that you get to know the German Autobahn when you find your dream dog. We do not place dogs abroad. If you are interested in Rosa, please fill out our form.

Rosa Geb: 20.12.2024 Hündin, gechipt, geimpft American Bully ( Amstaff Mix) X OEB Unsere Rosa wiegt etwa 17 kg und misst rund 47 cm Schulterhöhe.

About Rosa

What life with Rosa looks like

Rosa is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Listenhunde Nothilfe in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Listenhunde Nothilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Listenhunde Nothilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Listenhunde Nothilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
