Rosi

Pit Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 4 years

Rosi came to us as a stray dog, so we unfortunately don't know where and how she lived before. She shows herself as a loving and affectionate dog. In contact with other dogs, Rosi decides based on sympathy. Therefore, we would like for her a place as a "single princess", without other animals. Also, Rosi's new home should be on one level and without stairs. It seems to Rosi that she hasn't experienced much in her previous life and hasn't had any training. This is shown in her still-developable leash guidance and her somewhat "intrusive" and physical nature. However, she is never malicious. Nevertheless, we are looking for people for Rosi who can handle her kind well and are willing to train with her. We are looking for a home for Rosi where the children are already at a stable age. An X-ray recently showed that Rosi suffered a fracture of the femoral neck in her previous life. Since Rosi is a listed dog, her interested parties should inquire in advance with their municipality about the requirements for a listed dog and think for themselves whether they can and want to fulfill them. If you would like to meet Rosi, please call us at 06181-45116 or write to

About Rosi

What life with Rosi looks like

Rosi is a adult pit bull terrier dog waiting at Tierschutz Hanau in Hanau.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Hanau handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Hanau will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Hanau early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
