Adopt Rosie

Bichon Frisé · Female · Senior · 9 years

05-06-26 Rosie is a very shy Bichon Frise Cross who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She is an incredibly sweet little girl, but she is very nervous around us at the moment and is still trying to make sense of her new surroundings. When she is away from the comfort of her kennel friends, she will often shake as she is unsure of our intentions. Despite this, once she has had a few minutes to settle, her gentle nature begins to shine through and she will even offer little kisses. Rosie gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and relies heavily on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Rosie has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training and the other basics of home life. Her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she adjusts to a completely new world. She can live with dog-savvy sensible teens who respect her space as she settles in. Rosie can already walk on a lead, so she would enjoy one or two walks around the local area with her resident dog once she has settled into her new home. Having a canine companion by her side will help her feel much more confident as she explores. She is currently overweight, so she will need a good diet and gentle exercise to help her reach and maintain a healthy weight. This will need to be continued in her new home. Rosie is a truly lovely little girl with a kind and gentle heart. Although she is finding life quite overwhelming right now, we are sure that with time, patience, and the support of a canine friend, she will blossom into a wonderful companion and discover just how good life can be. Rosie has been spayed and had 12 teeth removed. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Rosie

What life with Rosie looks like

Rosie is a senior bichon frisé dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
