Roulette

Greyhound Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 5 years

Roulette is a lovely lad who came to us as his racing days are over. Roulette can now begin his search for a family who have a greyhound shaped hole in their heart. This wonderful lad has sadly spent all his life in racing kennels and has missed out on so much in life, he is now ready to make up for lost time and live life as a loved family pet. Because he has lived in racing kennels his whole life, standard home features like stairs, shiny floors and television screens will be brand new to him. He will need a patient family to guide him as he decompresses, learns your routine, and realizes he is finally home. Greyhounds adapt remarkably well and quickly as they just love the comforts a home provides. Roulette walks well on the lead but also enjoys having a zoom around our enclosed compound, he is then ready for a snack and a snooze. Roulette has been sociable around many other dogs here at the centre especially other sighthounds and dogs of similar size. Roulette really is great dog who is ready to go on adventures and make memories with his new family. Roulette is suitable to live with other medium to large dogs, unfortunately not suitable to live with small animals or cats and can live with children aged 10 years and over.

About Roulette

What life with Roulette looks like

Roulette is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at RSPCA York Home in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roulette, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roulette?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA York Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roulette on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roulette if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA York Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Roulette already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roulette isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA York Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roulette and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
