adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Rowdy can stay forever in his foster home! His story: 37077 Göttingen. Rowdy has been in his foster home since mid-January and has already settled in wonderfully. He walks well on a leash and is very friendly to all people and animals. He loves being stroked and would like to play with every dog he meets. At home, he is quiet, sleeping or playing a little with his toys. He is already house-trained and goes up the stairs without a problem. Driving in the car also works wonderfully – he lies down and sleeps until it's time to get out. Our Rowdy probably has herding qualities. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home that is already familiar with these qualities and knows that the dog fits into the personal environment. Herding dogs are not city or office dogs. It would be great for them to have a large property they can guard. Since the territory of a herding dog extends as far as they can see, the property should be fenced to show them their territory boundaries. Herdis are independent personalities that require the owner to have a sense of responsibility and empathy, and they must also be able to deal with an intelligent, independent, large dog. They bring many wonderful qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want any other breed, as they, despite their big heads, are very loyal and faithful companions. Rowdy looks forward to a life with many new experiences, adventures in nature, and plenty of cuddle time. A visit to a good dog training class that works with positive reinforcement should definitely be considered, as this can help in the upbringing of a young dog and also strengthen the bond between Rowdy and its people. Rowdy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and brings its EU pet passport. If you are in love with our Rowdy and want to give him a future, then feel free to contact us! Many thanks Sabine M.! You have given our Rowdy an identity. Date: 08.02.

Vielen Dank Sabine M.! Du hast unserem Rowdy eine Identität geschenkt. About Rowdy

What life with Rowdy looks like

Rowdy is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rowdy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rowdy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rowdy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rowdy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rowdy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rowdy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rowdy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
