Roxy & Ticka

English Bulldog · Male · Young · 3 years

Roxy (4 years) and Ticka (3 years) are two incredibly friendly, jovial, and playful English Bulldogs who love to go through life together. Unfortunately, we have very little background information about them, but we notice in the shelter that they are both very easy to get along with. They initially have a lot of energy and enthusiasm, but after a good walk (30 minutes is enough for them), that energy quickly subsides and they are happy to make room for rest and cuddle moments. Despite their exuberance, they are two dogs with a very soft and friendly nature. Because we know so little about their past, we can hardly predict how Roxy and Ticka will behave in a home situation. Therefore, we are looking for an adopter who is willing to get to know them slowly and give them the time to adapt. It is important that they can stay together and that their new home does not expect them to constantly go on big adventures. Roxy, in particular, can sometimes find it difficult to control her enthusiasm and jumps right in, sometimes underestimating her own strength. A family that can provide them with a stable and loving home together and takes into account their enthusiasm and strength. Roxy & Ticka eat hypoallergenic food.

NL·Show original

Roxy & Ticka eten hypoallergene voeding.

About Roxy & Ticka

What life with Roxy & Ticka looks like

Roxy & Ticka is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Dierenasiel Gent in Gent.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roxy & Ticka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roxy & Ticka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Gent handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roxy & Ticka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roxy & Ticka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Gent will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roxy & Ticka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roxy & Ticka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Gent early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roxy & Ticka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
