Roxy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Roxy is looking for a calm and predictable home with loving and active adopters who can take her on sniffy adventures, who will take the time to help her settle in and provide her all the love she deserves. She can be a worried girl who looks to her trusted people for reassurance so could live with older secondary school children who are confident around a larger dog, who approach at her pace, who will play with her nicely and will give her space to rest when needed. Roxy likes all of the attention to herself, so is looking to be the only pet in the home, she would benefit from having polite and calm walking buddies who will give her space and help her to build confidence around socialising with other dogs. Roxy is a clever girl, she can be encouraged to engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer. She would like a home with a private, secure garden for her to potter about in at her leisure. Roxy finds being left quite worrying so is looking to have someone home the majority of the time, especially to begin with, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once she has had time to settle into her new home. Roxy will need to meet her adopters multiple times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Sweet lady Roxy (affectionately known as foxy Roxy by her favourite handlers) is a 7 and a half year old Crossbreed who needs a little time to build a bond. She is just starting to play with toys, she will grab one off the floor and start bouncing around with it, if you throw it for her, she will gladly run after it but will probably not bring it back. Once she knows and trusts you she will approach for a fuss and will back into you or lean on your leg for more, she likes a back scratch most of all. This foxy looking girl is ready to find her new home.

About Roxy

What life with Roxy looks like

Roxy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roxy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roxy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roxy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roxy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roxy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roxy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roxy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
