RUBI

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

RUBI Scared, withdrawn female dog around 4 years old, weighing about 17 kg. RUBI lived on the property of an unkind person for some time. She could not count on proper care and a safe home, only occasionally getting some food. After the "owner's" death, the female dog was left alone on the property and gradually lost her trust in human company. A neighbor became interested in her, fed the dog, and the female dog somewhat trusted him. Finally, the female dog came under our care. For now, she is scared and does not really want to have anything to do with us. She prefers to stay in the shed. She has become accustomed to being alone and never had a normal home where she could develop a real relationship with a person. We hope that the female dog will quickly realize that nothing bad will happen to her here, she will overcome her fear, and will learn to trust people. We very much ask for a chance for RUBI, whose life has not been colorful so far. At the moment, we don't see her in an apartment block, because she has never lived in such conditions and does not know how to walk on a leash. The most optimal conditions for her would be a house with a garden in a quiet area. RUBI will definitely need some time to acclimate to new conditions. Dogs like her have it the hardest - they have never had a home, proper care, or human love. We hope this will change soon. Vaccinations: the female dog has received all vaccinations, is generally healthy. She has been dewormed and treated for fleas. She is spayed and neutered. Come visit our animal shelter. If you find a puppy that steals your heart, we will help with transport to a new home at a reasonable distance. The animal shelter is located in Racławice near Miechów in the Małopolska province (about 40 km from Krakow). All animals in our animal shelter are sterilized or castrated before adoption and there are no exceptions except for medical reasons. We inform you that we do not give out animals on a leash, nor puppies outside.

Rubi Przestraszona, wycofana suczka w wieku ok. 4 lata, o wadze około 17 kg. Została odrobaczona i odpchlona. Jest zaczipowana i została wysterylizowana. Zapraszamy do naszego schroniska. About RUBI

What life with RUBI looks like

RUBI is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Psie Pole in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting RUBI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RUBI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Psie Pole handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RUBI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RUBI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Psie Pole will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RUBI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RUBI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Psie Pole early rather than rehoming privately; they know RUBI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
