Rubin

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Rubin, born approximately June 2026, unneutered, estimated to have grown to approximately 50-55cm shoulder height, with Georgiana since 2026. While other puppies spend their first months exploring the world, Rubin's first life was very different: he spent it chained on a cruel neighbor's property. He has been living with Georgiana at the shelter since September. There, he is safe and cared for, but he doesn't know what a real home, security, and the many small things we take for granted are like. Rubin is a friendly and gentle young dog. He gets along well with his fellow dogs at the shelter. A confident dog by his side could be a nice support as he gradually discovers his new life. Rubin still needs to learn the ABCs of dog training: walks, being alone, house training, and much more. Above all, he needs to learn to trust his human and that no one will ever chain him up again. In new and unfamiliar situations, Rubin will probably need some time to adjust. He should be allowed to arrive and learn at his own pace, to discover what it means to be a beloved family member. His new family should have patience, understanding, and the joy of showing him the world. His sister Rika is also waiting for her chance. Rubin is looking for people who don't expect him to already know everything - but who want to show him that learning together can be beautiful. Maybe you are the person who can let Rubin experience what a real home feels like for the first time. Currently in Romania, he can travel out if he finds a home. About Rubin

What life with Rubin looks like

Rubin is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for Future e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rubin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rubin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Future e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rubin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rubin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Future e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rubin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rubin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Future e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rubin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
