Rudi &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Rudi now lives in 76593 Gernsbach. All the best, Rudi. Heartfelt thanks, Mrs. F. The approximately four-year-old Rudi, also known as Longleg, Floppyear, Sprinter – short for Galgo, currently lives in a foster home in Gernsbach and is waiting there for his new home. Rudi is a dog who immediately touches every heart with his calm and loving nature. Rudi stands out through his great attachment and love for contact. He loves being stroked and seeks the proximity of his trusted people. Curling up on the sofa is one of his favorite activities, as the picture from his foster home impressively shows. Rudi masters ZEN, he convinces with his calm and balanced demeanor – well, except when it comes to cats … but that is really somehow understandable. He is more than friendly and open towards two-legged beings of all sizes and shapes and enjoys every little bit of attention. With other dogs, Rudi gets along very well. He is social, shows friendliness and conflict-free behavior in the company of fellow animals. However, free runs should only take place in secured grounds, because Rudi has a prey drive. This is breed-typical and should always be kept in mind during walks. That is why Rudi is not suitable for families with cats (and freely roaming garden chickens or similar). Rudi is neutered and was tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. With this, he brings the best prerequisites for a long, healthy dog life. His short fur is easy to care for (although he wishes for a warm sweater for the winter), and walks with Rudi are relaxed and pleasant, as he orientates himself on his human and likes to go along. On the leash, he behaves like many of his fellow animals, exemplary (until the mentioned cats come into play …) For Rudi, we wish a loving home where he will be welcomed as a family member. People who take joy in giving a soft and cuddly Galgo a home will win a loyal companion with Rudi. An securely fenced garden would be ideal, so he can also run and play. As Rudi is very human-oriented, he should not have to be left alone for long. Rudi is a dream dog for all who appreciate the special qualities of Galgos: sensitivity, attachment, and a calm nature. Those who give our cuddly pillow a loving home will receive a loyal companion, a born warm water bottle, and a cheerful, inquisitive friend who enriches every day with his gentle gaze and big heart. If you would like to meet Rudi or have questions, please feel free to contact us. Our foster home in 76593 Gernsbach!

DE·Show original

Rudi lebt jetzt in 76593 Gernsbach. Alles Gute, Rudi.

About Rudi &#8211

What life with Rudi &#8211 looks like

Rudi &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudi &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudi &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudi &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudi &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudi &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudi &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudi &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
