Rudi

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Rudi has found his people! His story: Rudi currently lives in the public shelter in Romania, which is hard for such a needy, people-oriented, and active dog. Despite all the efforts of the staff, Rudi longs for a home with people who will care for and love him. We do not know exactly what the affectionate giant has experienced so far, but we do know that from now on, it can and must only get better. Rudi is a ca. 4-year-old, ca. 67 cm tall, male dog with an unusually beautiful white-brown coat pattern. His most striking feature is his mask over the dark round eyes, which look trustingly into a better future. He is very open and friendly towards people and delights in every affection. Rudi is an active and affectionate male dog who gets along well with his fellow animals. We cannot rule out that he might have some herding dog qualities based on his appearance, so it is important to know what these dogs can bring in terms of traits. Independence, lovable mavericks who prefer a garden and rural surroundings as their home. It is assumed that Rudi has not yet experienced life in a house. Leash walking and house training are likely just as unfamiliar to him as the behavior rules for a well-behaved house dog. But we are sure that Rudi will quickly learn the whole dog 1×1 if he is worked with patiently and lovingly. We wish for adopters who will take him in with love and patience, offering him a family connection, a warm dog bed, and beautiful walks. After the adjustment period, we would recommend a visit to a positively working dog training class, where Rudi can train together with his new family and gain positive experiences. The sweet Rudi travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has an EU pet passport and can be transferred even with a foster home. Many thanks to Heike S. for the sweet name and the chance for Rudi to start a new life! As of: 14.07.

Stand: 14.07.2025

About Rudi

What life with Rudi looks like

Rudi is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
