Rum

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Rum, a Bodeguerojunge, is looking for his forever home. The little Rum came to our Spanish partner animal shelter with his brother Tequila through animal advocates. Rum is a charming puppy. He exhibits all the typical behaviors of a puppy. This sweet guy is playful, curious and a little mouse. Rum is friendly towards the staff at the shelter. He enjoys attention and petting. The shelter is not a suitable place to spend his childhood. Instead, a caring bed should be waiting for Rum with his loving humans. Therefore, we are looking for a loving home for Rum as soon as possible. Of course, a dog child still needs to be educated and allowed to learn everything he will need to become a healthy adult. Rum wants to get to know, explore and conquer a completely new dog world together with HIS people. He wants to be positively supported and accompanied by them in his further development. At the end of the day, little Rum should be able to fall asleep contentedly and loved in his dog bed. The little boy would certainly be happy with a dog friend at his side. If you have already caught the sparkle of love for him and your living conditions can meet the needs of a puppy, then we look forward to your inquiry. Adopting an animal from a shelter always means taking on special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack with past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to settle into their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Rum, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. You can find the contact details below. Here is Rum's video

About Rum

What life with Rum looks like

Rum is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rum, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rum?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rum on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rum if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rum already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rum isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rum and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
