Adopt Chestnut

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Age: to be provided. Gender: female. neutered: no Character: very friendly, puppy-like playful Size: still growing, likely to become medium-sized Im Shelter since: May 2026 Siblings: RW 4, RW 8, RW 10, RM 25 & RM 33 Hello… I would like to introduce myself! I am RW 7. A small dark brown girl with a light spot and sweet floppy ears. I live here with my 5 siblings. When we were found, I was terribly afraid. The world suddenly felt huge and cold. Without my mom, everything felt wrong. But as puppies, we supported each other. We slept together, trembled together, and snuggled close to each other. Even today in the shelter, we are still a small team. We spend our time playing and cuddling together. When one is sad, the others join in. Perhaps that's why I've learned how important closeness and love are. The people here try their best. They talk softly to us and pet us when they have time. But often, they must move on to the next dog, even though I'm just starting to enjoy the petting. Then I watch them and secretly wish for someone who would have time just for me. I dream of a home where I can feel safe. A soft dog bed, loving hands, and people who show me that life isn't just about fear. Maybe somewhere out there, my person is waiting for me. Can I hope that this person will discover me? If you are interested in RW 7, please fill out our interest form (), or send us an email or message on Facebook. RW 7 is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces is the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs are neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and they have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. SteckbriefAlter: ca. März 2026 geboren. Geschlecht: weiblich.

About Chestnut

What life with Chestnut looks like

Chestnut is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chestnut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chestnut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chestnut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chestnut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chestnut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chestnut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chestnut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
