Sacki

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Sacki was found in spring 2023 in a condition that is hard to comprehend: She had been stuck inside a bag with her entire body and was found running around in the streets, terrified. She had probably been discarded in it and had only managed to free herself partially. So terrified was the young female dog that she had to be released under sedation. The bag full of excrement and the marks around her neck, which suggested a long-forgotten collar and possibly a past on a leash, completed the horrifying picture. Understandably, she initially appeared very unsettled around people and dogs, but from the beginning she has been gentle and eager to gain trust. Sacki has now blossomed thanks to the good care at the shelter. She gets along well with the other dogs and enjoys playing actively with them. Sacki simply wants to be part of things, experience something and live a life where everyone is as kind to her as she is to her environment. Above all, we wish for her a home that can give an active dog plenty of attention and wants to keep her both physically and mentally engaged. Due to her history, it cannot be ruled out that Sacki may still experience situations where she shows uncertainty, so she needs someone who can provide her with the necessary security. Sacki would make a great second dog and should definitely have regular dog interaction for playing and communicating. Because she still has difficulties being picked up, and is not yet comfortable being touched everywhere, she needs adult people who can offer her time and understanding and do not expect anything from her right away. Experience with dogs is a prerequisite.

DE·Show original

About Sacki

What life with Sacki looks like

Sacki is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Friends for Life Germany e.V. in Hemer.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sacki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sacki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Friends for Life Germany e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sacki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sacki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Friends for Life Germany e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sacki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sacki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Friends for Life Germany e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sacki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
