This is a regrettable example of a backyard population. The old aunt lives in a dilapidated house without running water or electricity. The yard always has a various number of young and old dogs that fear people. They have tried to lure them, but we are too smart to go into the trap. Only our owner can handle us. The aunt is usually very reluctant to give up the dogs, even though she can't take care of them. This time the aunt was convinced to give 16 dogs, 11 of which were puppies. All the dogs lived freely in the yard, completely at the mercy of the weather and wild animals, and there was no knowledge of socialization at all. So I ended up with my siblings in the shelter kennel, and it was really a fortune. Here we are taken care of and our basic needs are met. My siblings have already found homes in Lithuania, but I am still in the shelter kennel waiting for my luck. Unfortunately, suitable families have not been found, since the owner of the yard does not give us to just anyone, but is careful that our future owners are suitable for each particular dog. We are like dear family members.

Kyseessä on valitettava malliesimerkki populaatiopihasta. Vanha mummo asuu ränsistyneessä talossa vailla juoksevaa vettä tai sähköä. Pihamaalla vilistää aina erinäinen määrä nuoria ja vanhoja koiria, jotka pelkäävät ihmisiä. Niitä on yritetty loukuttaa, mutta olemme liian fiksuja mennäksemme ansaan. Ainoastaan omistajamme pystyy käsittelemään meitä. Mummo on yleensä hyvin vastentahtoinen luovuttamaan koiria, vaikka ei kykenekkään niitä hoitamaan. Tällä kertaa mummo saatiin suostuteltua antamaan 16 koiraa, joista 11 oli pentuja. Kaikki koirat asuivat vapaana pihalla, täysin säiden ja villieläinten armoilla, eikä tietoakaan sosiaalistumisesta. Niin minä sitten päädyin sisarusteni kanssa tarhalle ja se olikin varsinainen onni. Täällä meistä välitetään ja perustarpeemme täytetään. Sisarukseni ovat jo löytäneet kodit Liettuasta, mutta minä olen vielä tarhalla odottamassa onneani. Valitettavasti sopivia perheitä ei ole löytynyt, sillä tarhan omistaja ei anna meitä ihan kenen tahansa matkaan, vaan on tarkka, että tulevat omistajamme ovat sopivia juuri kyseiselle koiralle. Olemmehan me kuin rakkaita perheenjäseniä.
