Adopt Salto

Golden Retriever · Male · Young · 1 year

This handsome guy was originally named Batat, but we quickly realized he's far from the calm, sweet potato. The name that better reflects the energy of our new charge is... Salto. Salto looks like a mix of a border and a golden. However, when it comes to behavior, he's far from the calm golden. He is fast, agile, and very energetic. No one will complain about boredom with him, that's certain ;-) For Salto we are definitely looking for an active home, which doesn't look for a dog just for lying on the couch together, but for adventures, learning and constant movement. He is a dog with great potential! On the other hand, he is undoubtedly a demanding dog, for experienced caretakers who will find time for daily training and long walks. Salto won't find himself in a house with small children or cats. He also reacts poorly to other dogs at the moment - he pulls towards them and barks. This will require working through with the new caregiver. So - fall in love! And if you ever plan to come meet him - remember to do a proper warm-up before, because Salto doesn't plan to slow down ;-) We also invite you to our volunteer group's social media, where you can find stories about the lives of our charges in the animal shelter, information about adoptions, greetings from homes, educational posts and much more! Tego przystojniaka roboczo nazwaliśmy Batatem, szybko jednak doszliśmy do wniosku, że daleko mu do statecznego, słodkiego ziemniaczka. Imię, które znacznie lepiej oddaje żywiołowość naszego nowego podopiecznego, to… Salto. Salto z wyglądu przypomina mieszankę bordera i goldena. Jeśli jednak chodzi o zachowanie, to daleko mu do statecznego goldena. To szybki, zwinny, baaaardzo energiczny pies. To pies z ogromnym potencjałem! About Salto

What life with Salto looks like

Salto is a medium-sized young adult golden retriever dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Salto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Salto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Salto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Salto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Salto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Salto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Salto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
