Sam (Wohnungskatzen)

Unknown · Senior · 14 years

I came to the shelter due to an allergy in my previous family. I'm actually a really sweet cat, but I have a quirk where I like to sniff everyone first. It doesn't matter if I know the person or not, I don't mean it that way. When I realize everything is okay, I love to cuddle and play. Since my blood pressure is slightly higher than other cats, I need medication once a day, but don't worry, I take it in a treat or a paste. Due to the high blood pressure, my kidneys are minimally overloaded and I should get special food for support. I'm looking for a home in apartment living with secure outdoor access or a balcony. I don't like other cats, so there shouldn't be any other cats. I also prefer children over 13/14 years old, and if they're quiet and don't pick me up, that's fine for me. We're happy you're interested in Sam. Please send us an inquiry and you'll become Sam's sponsor. Sam also appreciates individual monetary and material donations.

About Sam (Wohnungskatzen)

What life with Sam (Wohnungskatzen) looks like

Sam (Wohnungskatzen) is a senior cat waiting at Tierheim Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sam (Wohnungskatzen), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sam (Wohnungskatzen)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Karlsruhe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sam (Wohnungskatzen) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sam (Wohnungskatzen) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Karlsruhe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sam (Wohnungskatzen) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sam (Wohnungskatzen) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Karlsruhe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sam (Wohnungskatzen) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
