Adopt Sami

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Sami is a female dog, whose life from the beginning has not been easy. Taken from a woman who kept her and her sister locked in a basement without access to food and water, she went through hell. Now she is safe, but still looking for a temporary home where she can fully recover her balance and prepare for a new life. Sami takes medication twice a day - she has absorption issues, but her health is under constant care and she is in good condition. Fortunately, she does not require intensive care, and regular veterinary care helps her enjoy life. One of the challenges that Sami still has to work through is emotional control, especially in relationships with other dogs. She is intelligent and eager to learn, so with proper support she will make progress. Although she builds good relationships with dogs, she can show that she is higher in the hierarchy, so she needs a guide who will help her find balance. With children, Sami handles well, provided they are older than 7 years. She does not like persistence, so with younger children we are not sure how she would behave. Due to her jumping and energy, it would be safer if she were placed in a home without small children. Car rides do not cause Sami any problems. She handles car rides well, although like any dog, she needs some support to feel secure in new situations. Walking with Sami is a real pleasure. She loves discovering new places, works well with her nose, and does not pull on the leash. She likes exploring her surroundings, and is not afraid of new challenges. When the leash gets tangled, there is no problem in untangling it - sometimes she even jumps into your arms when needed. She does not react to passing cars, and although she sometimes barks at other dogs. Fortunately, she can also focus on her caregiver and pass them without any problem. Sami is very people-oriented and sociable. She loves contact with people and has no problem with new people. In an instant, she gains the sympathy of everyone who has the opportunity to meet her. In the house, Sami can be a bit less polite. She sometimes gets into trouble - especially in the morning, when she sometimes doesn't have time to go outside and small accidents happen. This is normal, considering her past, but with patience and support, she can be helped to manage this. Sami needs a temporary home that will support her. Ideally, it would be an active home, where there are no cats, because Sami unfortunately does not tolerate them. She loves walks, and in the garden she will not refuse some time rolling in the grass, although it is important to remember to properly secure the leash, as she can sometimes escape. She is intelligent, energetic and full of life. Although her history is difficult, Sami has a great deal of love and energy inside her. She manages daily life, gets along with dogs, and loves discovering new things. She is now waiting for someone who will give her a chance for a temporary home, where she can continue to develop and enjoy peace. — METRYCZKA — Age: 08/2018 Gender: female Size: about 12 kilograms Activity: high Neutering: yes Chip: yes Vaccinations:

Spacerowanie z Sami to prawdziwa przyjemność. About Sami

What life with Sami looks like

Sami is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sami, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sami?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sami on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sami if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sami already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sami isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sami and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
