Sandi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

SandiFemale GSD mix, medium in size. Approx. 4 years old (May 2026). Happy dog who is friendly with everyone. Meet SandiSandi was living on the street near a school when the dog catchers were called. Luckily for her she was taken to safety before she could be put into a government pound. Sandi is a happy girl who gets along well with other dogs. She loves our rescuer’s little boy who often plays with her. She’s an active dog but she’s also happy to relax so a home where she’ll get a couple of good walks a day, with kids to keep her entertained would suit her best. Sandi already knows how to walk on a lead. She is vaccinated and spayed. All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021). Sandi tested positive on a routine screening test for Anaplasmosis. This is a fairly common tick-borne disease prevalent in countries such as the Balkans. It is treated with a 30 day course of antibiotics which is sufficient according to vet advice. Sandi does not show any symptoms of Anaplasmosis and has received her 30 day course of antibiotics. More information on Anaplasmois can be found here. Rescue back up for life If you are interested in adopting super Sandi please register your interest here or contact us for more information.

About Sandi

What life with Sandi looks like

Sandi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Balkan Underdogs in Tirana.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇱Adopting from Albania

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sandi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sandi?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Balkan Underdogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sandi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sandi if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Balkan Underdogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sandi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sandi isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Balkan Underdogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sandi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
