Sansa

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Sansa – Soft Heart Seeks Path to Happiness Amidst the chaos of Bucharest, behind the gates of the large ASPA animal shelter, a special female mixed-breed dog waits to finally be seen. Sansa is a four-year-old female dog with a reserved and delicate nature that immediately touches the heart. While around her, 1,500 other dogs bark and hope to be noticed, Sansa is more of a quiet observer, longing for security and stability. Her sister, Becky, has already made the big leap and is waiting in Emmendingen for her new life – now it's time for Sansa to get the chance to experience what a soft dog bed and real security feel like. Sansa is a social female dog who gets along well with her fellow animals. In her familiar dog group, she feels a bit safer and looks to her friends for guidance, making an existing only dog in her new home a wonderful support for her. However, when it comes to us humans, Sansa still carries a large portion of skepticism. She is very shy and still doesn't quite know that hands can also be used for petting. Life in a house, walking on a leash, and the daily sounds of a city are still completely new to her. Sansa is not a dog who immediately runs up to strangers wagging her tail; she is a canine personality that needs time, patience, and people with a lot of empathy. We are looking for people to show the pretty, already neutered female dog that it is worth being brave. People who do not expect a quick "function" but enjoy exploring the world with her at her own pace. Sansa needs a quiet environment, ideally in the countryside, where she can learn step by step that life can be beautiful. Those who extend a hand to Sansa and give her the time she needs will be rewarded with a loyal companion who celebrates every small progress as a great gift. Do you want to show Sansa that it is worth being brave? Then contact her foster parent, who will be happy to discuss everything further with you. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Sansa

What life with Sansa looks like

Sansa is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sansa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sansa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sansa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sansa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sansa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sansa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sansa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
