Sari

Mastiff · Female

Sari is a beautiful Tibetan Mastiff female—large, imposing, yet just as sweet once you get to know her. From a young age, around 8 months old, Sari experienced changes and upheaval. She was taken away from her first owners and placed in a shelter, but there they couldn’t adequately address her behavioral issues. As a result, she spent three years in boarding facilities with very limited outdoor time. Like every Tibetan Mastiff, Sari relies on her own instincts. She picks up on people’s energy flawlessly and can sense when someone is uncertain, forceful, or unclear. Particularly in her kennel, she tends to vocalize toward unfamiliar people. With most animals, including Sari, trust must be earned. When Sari first arrived, she was understandably confused and tense, which made her appear somewhat tough—but she has since completely let go of that attitude. Once Sari gets to know someone better and that person appreciates her for who she is, a genuine connection and strong cooperation develop. Leash walking now goes smoothly with us, and she happily joins in on walks, whether accompanied by other dogs or not. Sari is incredibly social with dogs and loves everyone and everything. Moreover, she’s great at guiding other dogs’ behavior thanks to her confidence and open demeanor. In fact, she’s been a real help to many shelter dogs here. Because Sari initially had some difficulty letting strangers into her life, she hasn’t been to a groomer in a long time and used to be shaved regularly. That’s why she currently looks a bit scruffy. We’re working hard to help her coat recover, but it’s quite a challenge. Of course, shaving her entirely remains an option. Sari is a dog for someone who truly loves dogs—a person who is confident, knows how to read and respect her signals. Clarity, calmness, and self-assurance are essential for her. With a clear approach and a serene energy, Sari shows that you can count on her and that you two can form a great team. Important characteristics of Sari: Energy level: Low Intelligence: High Self-confidence: High Self-awareness: High Perseverance: Low When adopting a dog, it’s crucial that you yourself score higher than or equal to the dog’s traits in these areas, ensuring a good match. About Sari

What life with Sari looks like

Sari is a large adult mastiff dog waiting at Stichting Animals Faith in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sari, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sari?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Animals Faith handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sari on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sari if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Animals Faith will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sari already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sari isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Animals Faith early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sari and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
