Teddy

Mastiff · Male

Teddy is a sweet Bull Mastiff mix who has never had a fair chance in life. During the first few years of his life, Teddy found himself in a difficult situation, where he lacked the time and attention needed to grow and develop properly. The shelter quickly realized that they didn’t have enough staff or expertise to provide Teddy with the guidance he so desperately needed. That’s why they reached out to us—to find a place where Teddy could receive more individual attention and support. When Teddy first came to us, it was clear that he’d barely experienced the world at all. Everything was new, exciting—and sometimes overwhelming. He’d received very little basic training and simply didn’t know how to cope with stimuli, people, or different situations. This doesn’t make him a “difficult” dog; rather, it highlights that he’s a dog who needs guidance. Since Teddy joined us, we’ve seen above all a very sweet, sensitive dog with a big heart. He seeks connection, wants to understand what’s expected of him, and visibly relies on clear instructions. Once he knows what to expect, he relaxes and shows his gentle side. Teddy thrives on calmness, predictability, and people who help him explore the world step by step. For Teddy, we’re looking for people who are confident, can set clear boundaries, and are willing to guide him with lots of patience and love—people who understand that he still has a lot to learn and don’t mind supporting him along the way. People who live in a quiet environment where Teddy can enjoy peace and nature without being constantly bombarded by stimuli. With the right guidance, Teddy will become a loyal, well-balanced dog who feels safe and secure around people. Key characteristics of Teddy include: Energy Level: Average Intelligence: Low Self-Confidence: Average Self-Awareness: Low Perseverance: Average When adopting a dog, it’s important that you yourself score higher than or equal to the dog’s traits in these areas, ensuring that a good match can be made. About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a large adult mastiff dog waiting at Stichting Animals Faith in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Animals Faith handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Animals Faith will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Animals Faith early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
