Adopt Sasha

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Name Sasha Born 23.09.2023 Gender female, neutered Breed mixed breed Size approx. 45 cm, approx. 10 kg Foster home Sasha is still in the country with our animal welfare friends. She can travel as soon as we find a foster home (preferably with adoption intentions) in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area. The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. The three puppies Sasha, Odie, and Enzo were found in a trash can in Tabernas, Spain, when they were only a few days old. The puppies were brought to our animal welfare friend Marcos, who cared for them. At first, it was difficult because the puppies wouldn't accept the bottle, but with much patience, Marcos managed to get all three through it. Now, the puppies have grown into lively, active young dogs, who are initially a bit reserved but quickly warm up once they've gained trust. What the three now seek is a forever home where they can learn everything they need for a happy dog life. Sasha is the only female dog in the litter, she is the smallest of the three but also the most clingy of the siblings. Sasha often looks as though she's wearing a smile. Are you perhaps currently on the lookout for a new family member? Would you like to give the lovely Sasha a new home? You know that the arrival of a young dog means not just joy but also work and responsibility. Unfortunately, the siblings haven't had any luck yet and are still waiting for their people…. They have only been able to experience the environment at Marcos's place and him…. Where are the people who will take on this challenge and show them what life has to offer? We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. If you are interested in this wonderful dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. For enlargement, please click on an image.

About Sasha

What life with Sasha looks like

Sasha is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
