Adopt Sasha

Female · Young · 1 year

Sasha had a very tumultuous puppyhood after being found in a box on a scorching hot day with her littermates. She was rehomed but sadly due to family ill health, she is back in our care and in need of a new family. She's a very lovely girl and incredibly bright, but can be wary of being handled at times and often doesn't quite know what we expect of her. She enjoys her walks nut worries about having her harness put on, so we make it a positive experience by giving titbits throughout. Sasha can get stressed on her walks and will twist the lead around, so she'll need a patient family that don't shout at her for this, instead reassuring her that she's OK on her walks. She is often on the lookout for dogs on her walks and her interactions with them aren't great, with Sasha becoming easily frustrated. She would benefit from gradual socialisation with other dogs, but not to be pushed into inappropriate situations that will cause her stress. Our training team will discuss this in depth with her adopters, making a plan that works for all. Sasha is very friendly with people outside and get excited to say hello, sometimes gently grabbing hands. She means no harm but it shouldn't be encouraged. She absolutely love toys and treats and these make great training tools to set this gorgeous girl up for future success, with a family willing to put in a little work with her. Sasha can live with children of high school age but no other pets. She is house trained and will ask to go outside, and can be left alone for a few hours once settled.

About Sasha

What life with Sasha looks like

Sasha is a young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
