Sasha is one of those dogs. At just 18 months old, she has already spent most of her young life in rescue after arriving as a puppy at around three months of age. Despite being friendly, affectionate and ready to love, nobody has ever chosen her. Recently, Sasha has been spending time outside the kennel with volunteers, and these new experiences have allowed her personality to shine. She loves human company, enjoys affection and has embraced her walks with enthusiasm. Watching her lean in for cuddles makes it impossible not to wonder why she has waited so long. Sasha gets along well with other dogs and would love an active family who enjoy spending time outdoors. She has the energy and enthusiasm of a young dog but also has a wonderfully affectionate side, making her equally happy exploring new places or soaking up attention from her favourite people. After such a long wait, all Sasha really needs is someone to see the wonderful dog she's always been. Could you be the person who finally changes her story? At a Glance Breed: German Shepherd x Labrador (or similar) Age: Approximately 18 months Size: Large (around 30kg) Suitable Home Sasha would thrive with an active family who can continue introducing her to the world and include her in everyday life. She would love owners who enjoy countryside walks, adventures and spending quality time with their dog. Although she has spent much of her life in rescue, she's shown just how well she responds to kindness, encouragement and positive experiences. Like all young dogs, she'll benefit from ongoing training, routine and plenty of mental stimulation as she settles into family life. Breed Insights Sasha appears to be a German Shepherd x Labrador mix , combining many of the best qualities of both breeds. These intelligent, loyal dogs are eager to learn and form strong bonds with their families. They tend to be affectionate, people-focused companions who enjoy being active and involved in daily life. With consistent, reward-based training and plenty of exercise, Shepherd x Labrador mixes often develop into wonderfully balanced family dogs who are equally happy heading out on adventures or relaxing at home with their people. About Sasha

What life with Sasha looks like

Sasha is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rescue Me Dogs in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rescue Me Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Rescue Me Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rescue Me Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
