Sasha

Doberman · Male · Puppy

21 July 2026: Energetic and lively Sasha is looking for an active home that will take into account its need for exercise and activity and provide a safe environment where it can learn new things. At first, Sasha may be somewhat reserved around new people, but once it gets to know them, it quickly relaxes and becomes a delightful companion. Jogging is still a bit nerve-wracking for Sasha, so in the new home, it’s important to be prepared for calm, gradual training and give Sasha time to build up its confidence. We’re looking for an experienced home for Sasha—one that understands the needs of an active dog and knows how to support it in new situations. Sasha is not suitable as a first dog or for a family with small children. Sasha would prefer a peaceful living environment in a row house or single-family home neighborhood—or a similar setting. We don’t yet know how Sasha will get along with other animals. 5 August 2026: Sasha has turned out to be quite food-motivated. On walks, Sasha reacts to environmental stimuli such as passersby and other dogs, but with treats and by keeping a safe distance from these stimuli, we can establish really good contact with Sasha. While on leash, Sasha doesn’t pull much, though new areas do make this uncertain gentleman a bit nervous. Sasha is impressively large but somewhat clumsy. He loves getting gentle petting, and when Sasha gets excited, there’s plenty of energy! Sasha adores playing with balls.

5.8.2026: Sasha on paljastunut varsin ruokamotivoituneeksi.

About Sasha

What life with Sasha looks like

Sasha is a large puppy/kitten doberman dog waiting at HESY in Helsinki.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. HESY handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — HESY will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with HESY early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
