Adopt Sassy

British Shorthair · Female · Adult · 7 years

✨ A Quiet Little Love Story Looking for the Right Home ✨ please be advised these girls are a bonded pair and must be rehomed together!! Meet Mimi and Sassy two beautiful British Shorthair girls who have been through more than most cats ever should. These lovely girls are being rehomed on behalf of another rescue, Itty Bitty Kitty Rescue, who are primarily based in Dubai. Due to the current situation in the Middle East, they asked if we could help find these girls the calm, safe forever home they deserve here in the UK and of course we were more than happy to step in and help. Mimi and Sassy are currently safe and settling with one of our wonderful StraySafe fosters here in Manchester, where they continue to grow in confidence every day. The girls originally came from an illegal breeding environment where their world had been small, frightening and uncertain. When they first arrived into care they were nervous, unsure and completely reliant on each other for comfort. And that bond? It’s everything. ❤️ Over the past few months in foster care we have watched something very special happen. With patience, routine and gentle kindness, these girls have slowly begun to trust again. Sassy is the braver of the pair. She’s usually the first to peek out, explore the room, investigate shoes and quietly ask for affection once she decides you’re trustworthy. She has the most wonderful loud purr once she relaxes. Mimi is the quieter soul. She prefers to watch the world from a safe spot first, taking everything in before deciding when it feels right to join in. With time and reassurance she enjoys gentle strokes and calm company and having Sassy close by gives her the confidence she needs. They are not demanding cats. They are not “look at me” lap cats. But what they offer instead is something far more special a quiet bond that grows slowly, and trust that feels truly earned. 🏡 They are looking for: • A calm, quiet home • Patient adopters who understand shy cats • Older children or adults • A predictable routine They must stay together their bond is how they feel safe and confident in the world. They are indoor-only, healthy, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Mimi does have a sensitive tummy so their diet needs to remain consistent. They could also live happily with a calm, cat-friendly dog, as they have previously been around dogs and coped well with gentle introductions. These girls won’t be the cats who rush to greet every visitor. But for the right home, Mimi and Sassy will become something incredibly special two gentle souls who quietly fill a home with soft purrs and slow-built trust. Sometimes the quietest cats have the biggest stories. 💜 If you think you might be the patient, loving home these girls deserve, please get in touch. 🐾 StraySafe Rescue Helping our friends at Itty Bitty Kitty Rescue 📍 Fostered in Manchester

About Sassy

What life with Sassy looks like

Sassy is a small adult british shorthair cat waiting at StraySafe Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sassy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sassy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. StraySafe Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sassy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sassy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — StraySafe Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sassy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sassy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with StraySafe Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sassy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
