adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Savanna has found her home! Her story: Fantanele, Romania. The little Savanna and her sister Luri are waiting to be discovered at the shelter in Fantanele and embark on the great journey to happiness. The two puppies were already confronted with the harsher sides of life in the first three months of their lives, and while it sounds sarcastic, they were lucky. Their sister roamed alone on a busy street and spent her days there. It was a miracle that they weren't hit by any cars. Fortunately, they were discovered by our helpers on their way to the shelter and immediately taken into care. Further siblings and the mother were unsuccessfully searched for. Therefore, it is assumed that the two pretty girls were abandoned and left to their fate. The cute Savanna, with her light brown fur, her pointed nose, and her oversized ears, resembles a small Fennek very much. And she won't grow much bigger, her current size and weight suggest that she will remain small when fully grown. The delicate girl could unfortunately not be placed in a local foster family; she currently lives with her sister in a run. The loud environment still frightens both of them very much. At first, Savanna was still shy, but she now enjoys being carried. She likes to snuggle up and relishes every bit of attention. She is a very friendly and quiet little lady who now wants to experience the sunny sides of life. The little Savanna is a puppy, she hasn't received any training yet. Accordingly, she needs caring people by her side who are willing to practice the puppy ABCs with her and look past the occasional mishap. But with a little patience, a large portion of love, and consistent guidance, all little puppies have managed to overcome these hurdles. A run is certainly not an adequate place for a childhood. Therefore, Savanna should leave this desolate place as soon as possible and grow up protected in her own family. Our little desert puppy has not yet had the pleasure of sleeping in a cozy dog bed, experiencing beautiful walks in nature, and all these wonderful things that make life worth living. Savanna will undoubtedly develop into a loving family dog that you will not want to be without. The start of this wonderful life could also begin with a foster family. Savanna travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her family. In her carry-on, she brings an EU pet passport with her and will travel to her new home after a positive review. Many thanks to Diana W.! Your sponsorship was the starting gun for a new life! Stand: 20.03.2024

About Savanna

What life with Savanna looks like

Savanna is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Savanna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Savanna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Savanna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Savanna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Savanna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Savanna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Savanna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
