adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Schatzl can stay forever in her foster home! Her story: Schatzl traveled to her foster home in April. There's a lot going on there, and Schatzl is busy learning how a dog's life works in a household. The little pup was house-trained from day one, walks well on a leash, and loves to guard her garden. Because Schatzl is a little diva. She likes to have everything under control and wants to be treated like a princess. She gets along well with male dogs, but can be a bit grumpy with female dogs. Schatzl is now about 7.5 months old and has a current size of around 25 cm and weighs 5.5 kg. She will continue to grow but will mostly stay small. She likely has a terrier mix in her. Curious and self-assured, she wants to learn, being challenged and supported. Our Schatzl is looking for active people who are ready to experience adventures with her and to properly challenge her. She's still a "kid" and should always be guided with a positively reinforced training style. She's looking forward to a life with beautiful nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also attending puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos will turn the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" a lot of what they've learned and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it's especially important to consistently – but lovingly – train her during this phase. And there's also good news: This phase will pass! Schatzl can be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to move into her permanent home. She brings her EU pet passport and is already packed and ready to go. She can move at any time. Many thanks to Corinna R.! Your naming sponsorship was the start of a new life! Schatzl looking? Schatzl gesucht? Dann bist du hier genau richtig! Vielen Dank Corinna R.! About Schatzl

What life with Schatzl looks like

Schatzl is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schatzl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schatzl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schatzl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schatzl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schatzl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schatzl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schatzl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
