adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Schnuppeli has found her people! Her story. Schnuppeli had a tough start in life. Born with her sister Liesbeth and another puppy, she and her siblings were left in separate pockets in the overhead compartment of a train—as if they were luggage instead of feeling beings. It wasn't until all the passengers had exited the train that the abandoned pockets were noticed. Inside: three completely exhausted and dehydrated little dogs. Our animal welfare worker Dorel was immediately alerted and took the three into her care. With lots of love, care, and patience, she nourished Schnuppeli, Liesbeth, and the third little puppy back to health—and Schnuppeli has since developed wonderfully. Schnuppeli is approximately 2–3 years old, weighs around 6 kg, and is rather small. She has rust-brown, slightly shaggy fur and dark button eyes. A delicate female dog with an equally delicate nature. She is very loving, at first a bit shy, but when given a little time, she truly blossoms. She gets along well with other dogs—she and her sister have already lovingly taken in the other puppy, who was also found in a pocket. Schnuppeli is now searching for people with a heart, patience, and a safe home where she can finally settle in. Who will give this brave little female dog her second chance, which she so deserves? After a positive match, many thanks to Lotti v. P., who gave Schnuppeli a name and thus an identity. Additionally, you have taken on a monthly sponsorship for the mouse! As of: 23.04. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Schnuppeli hat ihre Menschen gefunden! Ihre Geschichte. Schnuppeli hatte keinen leichten Start ins Leben. Vielen Dank an Lotti v. Stand: 23.04.2025

About Schnuppeli

What life with Schnuppeli looks like

Schnuppeli is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schnuppeli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schnuppeli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schnuppeli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schnuppeli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schnuppeli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schnuppeli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schnuppeli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
