Senda &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female

Senda came to stay. The one-and-a-half-year-old Podenco mix female dog brought herself to the animal shelter of our friends at Refugio Kimba. One Saturday evening, the strikingly beautiful female dog caught the attention of an animal rescuer who was checking on the shelter via the surveillance camera. Senda was sitting by the door, patiently waiting. Our partner waited a little longer to see if anyone would come to "collect" Senda, but the clever puppy had no company and simply waited for the door to open. The camera operator then called the animal shelter and asked her colleagues to come to the front gate. As soon as the entrance opened, Senda strolled into the small facility as if she had lived there for years. Just like she came, our affectionate little snuggler shows up in everyday life too. Self-assured, friendly, and full of confidence that everything will turn out well in the end. Another organization was looking for a friendly and anxiety-free female dog to support a completely traumatized female dog on a foster home—and Senda came, saw, and won. After her therapy, she emerged just as lively back into the animal shelter, 100% Senda, fully present and facing each of her friends. Senda is looking for a home that appreciates her cheerful, empathetic, and inner peace. She is looking for loving people who will take her into the world so that she can make it a little better. Our friendly female dog wants to give smiles to sad people in the park, show anxious dogs how to play and forget their worries, visit the older neighbors—of course, she also wants a warm, soft dog bed near the heater, a wide windowsill to better see the squirrels in the garden, her own ball, and the promise never to stand at the door of an animal shelter again.

About Senda &#8211

What life with Senda &#8211 looks like

Senda &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Senda &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Senda &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Senda &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Senda &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Senda &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Senda &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Senda &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
