Serse

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

During our project tour in June 2026, we visited the Rescue in Stintino as always, where we were eagerly awaited by our partners Paola and Pierpaolo. Since our last visit, many new dogs and cats had been taken in, who urgently needed to be introduced to us. Two of these new arrivals are Susanna and Serse. The two puppies were found by a forest worker in the Campagna. His efforts to find their owners or receive help from officially responsible authorities were unsuccessful. He absolutely did not want to leave the two puppies, who were already very weakened and infested with fleas. And it occurred to him where he would definitely find help. So the two poor creatures landed at the Rescue, where they immediately received loving care. Susanna and her little brother Serse have since recovered from their ordeal and settled in well at the Rescue. They are very familiar with the foster parents, the helper and the children. With strangers, Susanna was particularly reserved. Serse showed himself to be a bit bolder and enjoyed the attention. We only wish for these two beautiful and lovable puppies that their stay at the Rescue will only be a short stopover in their lives. As soon as possible we would like to bring them to Germany, where they can then - perhaps without further detour via a foster home - find their dream home with loving families. Would you like to give Susanna or Serse the chance of a great dog life with close family ties? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that an adoption not only brings a lot of joy, but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We mediate nationwide. Your contact person for this

About Serse

What life with Serse looks like

Serse is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Serse, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Serse?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Serse on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Serse if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Serse already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Serse isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Serse and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
