Shanti

Mixed Breed · Unknown

A dream boy is looking for a dream home! Shanti is a dog who can steal horses, but this should not be taken literally. However, he will certainly get along wonderfully with horses, other dogs, and of course with people. No horses are required on site. He will be happy in a beautiful home with loving people who enjoy learning, playing, having fun, being outdoors, cuddling, and more with a wonderful dog. Shanti is up for all that. Shanti was found. Since he had no chip and no one is missing him, he now lives in the animal shelter and is waiting for his chance to be discovered by his future people. Shanti gives his best for that. He is very popular among the volunteers at the animal shelter and everyone wants to take care of Shanti. He is an extremely friendly male. He is very balanced and very social in the pack. So he is a great support for an insecure female dog in his current pack, as she feels safe by his side. He is a dog with a lot of potential and the absolute main prize for the people who take Shanti. With training, learning units, a lot of love and cuddling, he will be a wonderfully reliable partner by his human's side. Thus, Shanti is also a male for motivated (dog) beginners. He is not food-greedy and very attached to humans and other dogs. This suggests that he has not had any bad experiences in his previous life and probably had a good home. Shanti will adapt well to his new environment - after an adjustment period. He will feel at home in an active family, with a couple, a single person with a lot of time and entrepreneurial spirit, and he will love it if there is already a dog in the new home. However, this is not a must. Since Shanti likes to play and be active, a garden would be a great additional gift for him. What has not been discussed so far, but is not to be overlooked in the pictures: Shanti is a very handsome dog boy and the Beagle in him is clearly recognizable.

DE·Show original

About Shanti

What life with Shanti looks like

Shanti is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shanti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shanti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shanti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shanti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Shanti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shanti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shanti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
