Sheva

Husky · Female · Adult · 6 years

Sheva is a Husky with a big heart, a lot of energy, and a great personality. I love cuddling and being close to my people. But don't be fooled: after an active adventure, I can also relax and enjoy a nap. I'm a real pleasure-seeker, although I might be a bit... picky when it comes to food. Call me a gourmet. The same menu every day? I'm not really excited about that. Surprise me with a new flavor, and the chances are a lot higher that my bowl will be empty. With my thick Husky coat, I may look like a fluffy ball, but it does need to be groomed from time to time. I don't mind, as long as you tell me what you're going to do. Then I'll work along. What really makes me happy? Running, romping, and playing with other dogs! I like to make some noise while I'm at it, it's just part of the fun for me. Some dogs find that a bit intimidating at first, but I just mean that I'm having a great time. Toys? Well... I don't really understand them. Give me a four-legged playmate, that's where I have more fun!

NL·Show original

Hoi! Noem me gerust een fijnproever.

About Sheva

What life with Sheva looks like

Sheva is a large adult husky dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
