Shonda

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 4 years

Adoption assistance - looking for a home! For Shonda, we provide adoption assistance for a friendly animal protection association. The female dog originally comes from Romania and was now able to travel to a foster home in Germany. Shonda gave birth to her puppies in Romania. She was a caring dog mother. Now all her puppies are in Germany. Finally, it was also time for Shonda. Two of Shonda's daughters already live with the foster family, and their reunion was touching. Initially, Shonda was reserved in response to her new environment. Now, the great female dog enjoys the attention from her caretaker and also life in the pack. Shonda is an outstanding and intelligent dog soul with a composed character. In contact, she is friendly to everyone. She attentively observes her surroundings. Shonda is housebroken and knows basic commands. Due to her lovely and composed nature towards people and other animals, the dog would certainly be a valuable addition to her future home. This should preferably be located in a rural and quiet area. A securely fenced garden would be desirable. We wish for Shonda a quiet and structured domestic environment. Her humans should have enough time for the dog and enjoy long walks with Shonda. The dog will need the positive support and companionship of her humans in all further stages of development. Her future home should be able to offer Shonda security and want to support her. A confident first dog could be helpful for Shonda in all aspects. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs come with a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. If you have a serious interest in adopting Shonda, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Dog Assistance. The contact details are below. Here is Shonda's video.

About Shonda

What life with Shonda looks like

Shonda is a adult german shepherd dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shonda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shonda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shonda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shonda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shonda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shonda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shonda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
