Shop

Male · Young · 1 year

A stately dog named Shop has just celebrated his first birthday and still has a long life ahead of him. However, what the youngster is missing is a forever home. Shop was taken in on impulse to help the puppy. Since then he has lived harmoniously with two other small dogs and the children in the family. The living situation there is very cramped and not ideal for the long term. Therefore we are looking for a new home for Shop in rural surroundings, with an enclosed garden. Shop is initially reserved around strangers - quite Shar-Pei typical. But once you give him some time, he thaws out and becomes a really great, friendly companion who loves his people very much. Since Shop has hardly ever been left alone before, this needs to be practiced in small steps after the adjustment period. A multi-generational household would also be perfect. Shop loves children and would also be conceivable in his new family. However, it is a prerequisite that they are already steady and know how to treat dogs with respect. It would also be conceivable for a nice spayed female dog who is physically matched to be by his side. Shop does not yet know cats. The male dog travels calmly in the car and already knows basic commands, but leash training still needs to be worked on. Active and steady dog people would therefore be ideal partners at his side. If you think you could become a team for life, please fill out the interested party questionnaire first. Shop starts from Saxony-Anhalt, postcode 38486, in his new life. About Shop

What life with Shop looks like

Shop is a young adult dog waiting at Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland in Hiddenhausen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shop, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shop?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shop on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shop if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shop already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shop isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shop and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
