Sid

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Sid is a beautiful 4 year old girl whose owner has had to make this sad decision because she isn’t having the time or the ongoing training that she deserves. Her owner says that Sid is a brilliant dog, super smart & very active, but she cannot offer her the time or lifestyle to fulfil her. She feels as though Sid would be happier living with someone who has the experience to meet her needs and keep her mentally stimulated, Sid has so much potential that isn’t currently being met. Sid has been used to being walked regularly with dog walkers who take out groups of different dogs, so she’s used to walking happily with all sizes and both sexes. She’s very friendly and playful towards other dogs and has spent time with a male GSP who she adored and got along amazingly well with. She’s a brilliant traveler and quickly settles down and sleeps or gazes out of the window. She is also crate trained and can be left for 3-4 hours after exercise, she might cry a little at the start but does then settle down and snooze. Sid does have a good recall to her name or “Come” unless there are interesting distractions around like other dogs to play with or people who might want to meet her. Sid hasn’t spent much time around children, but has been fine with ones that she’s met out on a walk, especially if they gave her a treat. Being food oriented Sid will do most things for a treat, which also helps with her training. She will need further training around livestock because her owner believes that she might chase given a chance. Her reactions to cats are unknown because she hasn’t come across any as far as her owner is aware. Sid can still mouth when she gets overexcited, this happened recently at a boarding kennels that she’s used to staying at where she got very overexcited and nipped the arm of one of the kennel staff. The lady wasn’t hurt and thankfully no skin was broken, she also said she’s not frightened of Sid at all. She knows Sid well and knows that she has no malice in her whatsoever. The owner of the kennels also said if they thought Sid was at all a threat to the workers they would ban her, which they haven’t as they said it was definitely not out of aggression. Sid is a very loving, intelligent girl who would love to have time spent with her training or doing activities like scent work, man-trailing etc things that give her brain a good work out as well as body. If you feel you could offer this beautiful girl an active interesting life please contact us. Sid is currently in the Doncaster area and will be rehomed with her 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and our Adoption Contract. About Sid

What life with Sid looks like

Sid is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
