Adopt Simba

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

It is said that the dog is the most loyal companion of human beings. In the case of Simba, this is 100% true, even until death. Simba had a life that countless animals can only dream of. He stood faithfully by his beloved mistress for years. He never thought that things could suddenly change. Simba's mistress died unnoticed and was found after about 10 days. During this time, Simba did not move an inch from her. When he was found, he was completely distressed, yet surprisingly he recovered very well. Now he lives at the animal shelter of Animal Protection and everyone helps him process his trauma and become a happy dog again. Currently, Simba enjoys every affection and already feels quite comfortable. However, an animal shelter is never a substitute for a home of his own, so the beautiful Simba is now looking for happiness once more and we are helping him with that. Simba is a very balanced, friendly male dog. He naturally knows how to live with humans and knows how to behave at home and on a leash. He gets along well with other dogs, is not intrusive or impulsive, and avoids any conflicts. He is looking for a quiet, warm home without much hustle and bustle, but with plenty of contact and connection to us humans. Simba may not be the youngest anymore, but he is not yet considered old. He enjoys long walks, sniffing in the grass or running in the woods. He also likes relaxing on a soft blanket. Simba is simply happy to be part of something. We are now looking for a home for Simba that helps him process his traumatic experiences. It would be fine if there is already a friendly only dog in the family, as Simba would also manage alone. The animals are described as they behave in the animal shelter or foster home. This behavior does not happen immediately upon arrival. Some react with fear at first to the new situation. Animals from the animal protection have all had a past that was often not nice or even cruel. This past cannot be shaken off overnight. They need time to settle in and gain trust. Please be patient and give your pet the necessary time!

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
