Simba

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Calm, calmer, Simba (born 09/2014). Calm is the motto for this old male dog. At his foster home, the only thing that makes him noticeable is his size of 65 cm. Otherwise, he is a super relaxed senior who, despite his age, is still very agile and fit. Lying on the sofa and climbing stairs are no problem. He feels comfortable outdoors and can still go on long walks. He still has to get used to the leash and his leash manners still need work, but he is easy to control. The ideal home for him would be a house with a fenced garden, as he likes being outdoors. Here too he is relaxed and can be left alone. People or noises on the street don't bother him. He gets along with the other dogs at the foster home and defers to them. He also got to know cats here, which he ignores or only finds interesting from a distance. Encounters with children on walks have never been a problem so far either. He does well with car rides and stays calm even when left alone in the car. You can also leave him home alone for a while without him causing chaos. As his foster home found out, he even lets you know when he wants to go out, and then he can be a bit louder, but he has a very pleasant, deep bark. Above all, Simba wants love and attention and simply wants to be part of things. He loves being cuddled and scratched. Brushing is also no problem and is enjoyed. Playing hasn't been that important to him so far; cuddling is more important, preferably outside in the sun and fresh air. For anyone who wants to give a calm, cuddly dog a few more lovely years and isn't put off by his size, Simba is the perfect dog. Note: We love our oldies just as much as all our dogs. The standard adoption fee of 485 euros also applies to our older dogs. However, veterinary costs of up to 250€ can be submitted to the association once, and we will gladly cover these costs. Simba is neutered and will be vaccinated, chipped, and, after a positive pre-adoption check, placed with a protection contract. Wearing a safety harness is required when picking up the dog. Such a harness (3 straps) can be purchased for only 25€.

DE·Show original

Ruhig, ruhiger, Simba (geb. 09/2014).

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
