SIMBA

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

389387 Simba – Male, neutered, born approx. 12/2024, shoulder height approx. 50 cm, weight approx. 19 kg, at the Belchatow animal shelter since 13.08.2026. Simba was presented to us – a very open type who came right to us and immediately made contact on his own, greeting us! He is so glad to be able to leave the kennel, an active little fellow; I would have loved to run off with him right away and do a round to let him burn off energy. Simba is very sweet and friendly, very receptive to us strangers; he greets us, jumps up on me out of joy, sticks to me, and is somehow very nice about it! He is happy to see us, enjoys the attention and being spoken to, and likes to be petted. Simba is a handsome dog who simply likes all people. He is cuddly – we can touch him anywhere, and close contact doesn't bother him. On the contrary, he crawls into my arms. Unfortunately, Simba is far too thin, and his coat isn't yet in winter mode; again we shudder at the thought that the cold season is coming. A really fine, cheerful, very friendly young dog who is looking for an active home. He has no problems with children. How Simba came to the shelter: "Simba was found and taken in by some girls. The girls grew very fond of him but could not take him home. When we picked him up, they earnestly asked us to give him the name Simba. So our new hero will also be called that. Once he had already been picked up, the girls brought their saved-up money for him and, in tears, asked us to buy him some food with it. Of course we could not accept this money, so the girls ordered food for him themselves and sent it to us. The children did everything they could for him so that nothing would happen to him." According to the shelter, Simba is a lovable, young and uncomplicated dog. He can walk on a leash, only pulling a little. He shares his kennel with 2 males. (10/2026 B/KW)

About SIMBA

What life with SIMBA looks like

SIMBA is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting SIMBA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SIMBA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SIMBA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SIMBA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is SIMBA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SIMBA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know SIMBA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
