Adopt SIMÓN

Galgo Español · Male · Adult · 5 years

SIMÓN - seeks many hardships a home! - male dog, Galgo Espagnol, 5.5 years old, born October 2020, SH 70 cm, 28 kg, vaccinated, tested, microchipped, neutered, EU-Pass. - Waiting in Spain! - SIMÓN, a Galgo who was lucky! Welcome, Simón. We welcome you to our animal shelter. Your previous life, where you were merely an instrument in the hands of a hunter, is over. Your life, which was filled only with cruelty and hunger, has come to an end. He was born in October 2020, and one doesn't have to be very clever to know the conditions under which he lived: that is Spain. Here is his story: Simón was rescued by a volunteer helper and taken into our animal shelter. His story is similar to that of many other greyhounds that shelters across Spain care for. Andalusia is the Spanish province that has the most abandoned dogs in Spain, as many of these dogs are discarded by their owners like objects after the hunting season. Have you ever seen the lorries filled with Galgos and Podencos? A sad sight, but often worse is what happens to the animals at the end. Simón is a clever dog, and as one can see from the photo, he seems to be smiling. At first, most dogs are a bit shy, and so it is with Simón, but at the same time, he is very cuddly. In their past, the dogs have learned to be more cautious and a little suspicious, but when they realize they are loved and cared for, allowed to play with other dogs, and understand that they are in safety, they flourish and enjoy their life in the animal shelter. Simón has been lucky, he has left his sad life behind. Simón, we will find a loving family for you, and you will be very happy!!! At the moment, he is still in treatment for Erlichia and Anaplasma. He will receive antibiotics for a month and then will be completely healthy. Simón will be given to his new family with a chip and passport, vaccinated, tested for Erliquia, Filaria, and Leishmaniosis, and healthy when his treatment is complete. Soon he will also be neutered, he has only been with us for a short time. If you want to give SIMÓN a home, info and contact in Spanish: email: (Jessica) - or - info and contact in German: Fabienne Albessard - email. He will be rehomed with a pre-visit, later follow-up visit. I (Fabienne Albessard) am happy to help with language issues - includes (vet costs, transport, trace) - transport by land to Cologne or Karlsruhe. - I grant data access to all - animal welfare-related - persons.

SIMÓN - sucht nach vielen Entbehrungen ein Zuhause ! - Rüde, Galgo Espagnol, 5,5 J., geb. 10/2020, SH 70 cm, 28 kg, geimpft, getestet, gechippt, kastriert, EU-Paß. - Wartet in Spanien ! About SIMÓN

What life with SIMÓN looks like

SIMÓN is a adult galgo español dog waiting at Tier-Not-Hilfe in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting SIMÓN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SIMÓN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tier-Not-Hilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SIMÓN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SIMÓN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tier-Not-Hilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SIMÓN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SIMÓN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tier-Not-Hilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know SIMÓN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
