Sissi

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 7 months

Sissi - little fighter seeks a home Sissi came to the shelter with her siblings Berty, Alfie, Alfredo and Lea. She is now the last of her sibling group still waiting for her own home. Sissi is a sweet and puppy-typically playful dog. She gets along well with other dogs and just wants to be there, discover the world and finally get to know her own home. Sissi has only one toe on her right front paw. She copes with this, but it may be that she needs a special shoe later on longer walks or on certain surfaces. How her handicap will affect her everyday life cannot be said conclusively at the moment. For Sissi, we wish for people who do not see her handicap as an obstacle, but give her the chance at a normal, happy dog life. She needs loving people who let her settle down in peace and promote her according to her possibilities. Sissi has so much love to give - now she just needs a family to finally discover her.

DE·Show original

About Sissi

What life with Sissi looks like

Sissi is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. in Bielefeld.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sissi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sissi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sissi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sissi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sissi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sissi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sissi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
