Sito

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Sito is a charming Terrier-Podenco mix at the perfect young age: delightful, friendly, social, and with just the right blend of tender heart and joyful energy. One of those dogs who look at you as if they've already decided that you belong together. Our little gentleman gets along well with other dogs, and cats and children are no problem for him either. He meets people openly and kindly – in short: Sito is not a dog who debates whether he will be liked; he simply is. His backstory is typical of the everyday life of animal rescue in Spain: Sito appeared near a large garden center. Fortunately, he encountered loving owners who immediately noticed something was seriously wrong with one of his hind legs. He was quickly lured with food, gently secured, and promptly taken to the experienced care of ArcoNatura in Linares. Sito has been living there since February 2026 and received what he needed most: protection, medical care, and a real chance for a fresh start. The veterinary examination quickly clarified the situation: Sito had a fracture of the tibia and fibula, meaning a break in the shin and calf bones. Our patient was immediately operated on, the fracture was surgically treated, and Sito started his rehabilitation right away. Currently, he still walks a bit "uneven" – it's clear that his movement is not yet fully relaxed and smooth. However, this is not unusual after such an injury and surgery. Sito is getting better every day and is visibly on the best path to a pain-free future. The prognosis is very good, and Sito is already showing that he is using his affected leg again and putting more weight on it. For Sito's transition into a new home, we hope for people with both heart and mind – ideally in love, but please not head over heels. Sito doesn't need a pity adoption, but a good home that offers him loving companionship, structured exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation for his clever mind. Most important are people who understand that recovery is not a race. He needs to be allowed to move forward without being coddled. Walks, yes; Olympic long jumps, please wait until later (they will come!). If you're looking for a young, affectionate, and cheerful dog who has been through a lot but still goes through life with surprising ease, you should think more than just briefly about Sito. Our friendly ball of energy brings excellent qualities to become a wonderful family dog: he is friendly, cuddly, socially compatible, and despite his past, he is neither scared nor cautious but approachable and curious. He may not walk picture-perfect right now – but honestly: character has always been more important than perfection on four legs. And Sito has plenty of it. Whoever offers him a hand – or better yet, a dog bed – will get not a "work-in-progress" dog, but a particularly lovable companion on the way to a healthy, happy dog life.

DE·Show original

About Sito

What life with Sito looks like

Sito is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
