Sky

Greyhound · Female · Senior · 9 years

Sky is a sweet girl, who can be left for 4-6 hours with a break once settled in. She is a chilled out girl, who wants to live a slower pace of life and chill out on her sofa. She likes her high value food, but is currently a bit overweight so is on a diet! She is friendly with the people she meets, but would rather avoid other dogs out and about as they an be a bit worrying for her. She would love a nice garden she can sunbathe in! Meet pretty girl, Sky! Sky is a 9-year old Greyhound X looking for her forever home. Sky is a super sweet girl, who loves her food and her toys! Sky would like to be the only dog in the home as she can be worried coming face-to-face with others. She would be happy having calm, walking buddies though. Sky loves a comfy spot to sleep and settle down on and will snuggle up in her blankets. She is good with handling and would cope living with calm and sensible primary school aged children. Sky is house-trained and travels well in the car. She loves getting out and about for sniffy walks and zoomies - she also walks really well on the lead. Sky does love a fuss, and will approach for attention. Sky is a wonderful girl, and we can't wait to see her on her forever sofa!

About Sky

What life with Sky looks like

Sky is a senior greyhound dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
