Simba

Male · Young · 3 years

Simba is a sweet lad, with lots of energy and an eagerness to learn! He walks well on lead for the most part, but can pull if something is quite interesting (and can be strong!). He travels well in the car, so would make an incredible adventure buddy! He does need a bit of reminding with his house-training, and will need owners that are home most of the time to settle him in and build leaving time nice and slowly. Simba can be a bit worried in the vets, and is quite avoidant of handling in this setting. He would benefit building a bond with his new Vet so he feels more at ease with this. Simba is a super handsome boy, with lots of love to give, and will make an amazing addition to the home! Meet handsome lad, Simba! Simba is a 3-year old Patterdale x Springer Spaniel looking for his forever home! Simba is unable to live with another dog, as he is quite under-socialised. He can sometimes react to louder dogs, but mostly wants to avoid. Any children should be older secondary school aged as he can be a little worried of people initially, but quickly comes around and enjoys a fuss! Simba, despite being a bigger boy, likes to pretend he's a lapdog and have a cuddle with his people! Simba is a very clever boy, who loves to learn new things. He currently knows a sit, lie down, and a spin! Simba is looking for an active home where he can get out for fun adventures and long sniffy walks. He would thrive with a good routine, and would enjoy a day of activities followed by a cuddle on the sofa. Simba loves his toys and loves to play with his people, and is also very foodie so any training will be a doddle!

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
