Year of birth: 2014 SMETANA is about 10 years old, and has spent nearly half her life in the animal shelter. For 5 years, she has been waiting for someone to recognize her as a special dog and give her a chance at a peaceful, safe home. She arrived at the animal shelter from the vicinity of Niegosławic, where she had wandered alone for a long time, avoiding contact with people. It appears that she previously lived by her own rules and had never experienced life close to humans. Therefore, new situations, strangers, or touch are still difficult for her and cause uncertainty. Over the years, SMETANA has made significant progress. Thanks to the patience and dedication of a volunteer, she has learned to trust certain people. She now observes the world with increasing curiosity, can greet a familiar person with a wag of her tail, and sometimes even gives a lick. She eagerly takes treats from a hand and enjoys the company of others, as long as no one forces anything on her. SMETANA still needs space and respect for her boundaries. She feels best around patient, calm people who are willing to allow her to develop at her own pace. We believe that with the right person, she will be able to take the next steps—learning to accept touch and then exploring the world on walks. We are looking for a conscious and responsible home for her, one that understands that building a relationship with Smetana is a process. In return, you can gain something truly special—a dog that, for many years, had no reason to trust humans. She would ideally find a place in a quiet setting, with the option to stay in the house or on a safely enclosed yard. It’s possible that she would also do well alongside a balanced, friendly dog that helped her gain confidence and showed her that a person can be a friend. Rok urodzenia: 2014 Smetana ma około 10 lat, a aż połowę swojego życia spędziła w schronisku. Od 5 lat czeka, aż ktoś dostrzeże w niej wyjątkowego psa i da jej szansę na spokojny, bezpieczny dom. Do schroniska trafiła z okolic Niegosławic, gdzie przez długi czas błąkała się samotnie i unikała kontaktu z ludźmi. Wszystko wskazuje na to, że wcześniej żyła na własnych zasadach i nigdy nie poznała życia blisko człowieka. Dlatego nowe sytuacje, obcy ludzie czy dotyk wciąż są dla niej trudne i budzą niepewność. Przez lata Smetana zrobiła jednak ogromne postępy. Dzięki cierpliwości i zaangażowaniu wolontariuszki nauczyła się ufać wybranym osobom. Coraz częściej z ciekawością obserwuje świat, potrafi przywitać znajomego człowieka nieśmiałym merdaniem ogonka, a czasem nawet obdarzyć go buziakiem. Chętnie bierze smaczki z ręki i lubi spokojne towarzystwo, pod warunkiem że nikt niczego na niej nie wymusza. Smetana nadal potrzebuje przestrzeni i szacunku dla swoich granic. Najlepiej czuje się przy osobach cierpliwych, spokojnych i gotowych pozwolić jej rozwijać się we własnym tempie.
