Smokey

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Smokey is a handsome 18-month-old boy with a sweet and sensitive nature. He is currently finding cattery life a little overwhelming, so he is looking for a calm, patient home where he can settle at his own pace and grow in confidence He is slowly but positively making progress with his main carers. With time and understanding we are hopeful he will be a loyal and rewarding companion Smokey would prefer to be the only pet in the home and could potentially live with a sensible teenager who will respect his need for space while he settles in. A semi-rural home would suit him perfectly, giving him the opportunity to explore the outdoors in a quieter, more relaxed environment once he feels at home

About Smokey

What life with Smokey looks like

Smokey is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Smokey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Smokey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Smokey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Smokey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Smokey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Smokey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Smokey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
